NUTS AND YOU

Everyone who has lost weight knows that nuts are not allowed on a regular basis, unless you can eat three and three only of any particular nut.

Even though they’re nutrient dense, too many become hazardous to weight loss.

You know that old adage: First you take a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes you?

Well, it’s the same with any addictive type drink or food. Potato chips, popcorn and nuts all fall into that, ‘not being able to stop after consuming a small amount’ category.

You may think that eating a lot of something that is so nutritious can’t not be good for you.

Nuts are environmentally designed to provide small animals with what they need to survive and thrive.

In order for humans to eat enough to obtain the benefit from the nutrients, the body becomes overloaded with fat.

It doesn’t matter that the fat in small amounts is beneficial; it isn’t when consumed in large amounts.

Nuts are like potato chips or popcorn. Who can’t eat just three and walk away.

So crush the nuts and top a salad or add to a sandwich or top cooked veggies.

And Okay, but crushing a nut compacts it, making it look like a smaller amount so you put more on.

I’m not sure about that. Making the nuts into a paste, sure, you need more on a sandwich to cover the bread. But crumbling the nuts is different.

Go ahead, take a peanut and roughly chew it, then spit it out and see if it covers more area than the peanut itself.

By chewing, like processing, you inject air into the nut breaking it into many pieces, so the crumble looks and acts bigger than the whole nut, unlike paste which we’re not doing here.

Use a lot less and not on every salad, sandwich or veggie.

Thin people can eat a few of anything and walk away. Food doesn’t interest them in the same way that it interests people who struggle to keep their weight down.

If you keep asking yourself why somebody else can do something and you can’t, then you won’t succeed.

If you think you’re the only one struggling with your weight, look around you. Who is actually getting off scot-free while they eat and drink as much as you do without gaining weight?

Alright then.

Later gators!
